Controlling Factors of Meteoric Diagenesis in Karst Reservoirs: An Example from the Majiagou Formation, Ordos Basin, China

چکیده

Karst reservoirs have always been a key field of oil and gas exploration. However, quantifying the process meteoric transformation remains persistent challenge that limits accuracy reservoir quality prediction. To explore controlling factors cementation on karst reservoirs, Majiagou Formation Ordos Basin in China was selected as an example. The petrology; carbon, oxygen, strontium isotopes; situ major, trace, rare earth elements were used, types origins calcite cements analyzed detail. results revealed five (Cal-1~Cal-5), four cathodoluminescence (CL) intensities (dull, dull red, deep bright red luminescence), six element patterns (Pattern-1~Pattern-6). These developed three periods. Cal-1 (transition CL) Cal-2 (dull precipitated during Early Pennsylvanian period, freshwater clean; Cal-3 Cal-4 (bright at end Late Carboniferous fluids had strong dissolution ability polluted by terrigenous debris; Cal-5 deposited burial fluid pure pore water or groundwater. control cement period much weaker than cements. Therefore, explorations should be focused weak epigenetic period.

Disentangling Diagenesis From the Rock Record: An Example From the PermoTriassic Wordie Creek Formation, East Greenland

The measurement of isotope ratios in sedimentary rocks deposited over geological time can provide key insights to past environmental change over important intervals in the past. However, it is important to be aware that secondary alteration can overprint the original isotopic records. We demonstrate this principle using high-resolution carbon, sulfur, and oxygen isotope measurements in organic ...

Formation Conditions and Sedimentary Characteristics of a Triassic Shallow Water Braided Delta in the Yanchang Formation, Southwest Ordos Basin, China

A large, shallow braided river delta sedimentary system developed in the Yanchang Formation during the Triassic in the southwest of the Ordos basin. In this braided delta system, abundant oil and gas resources have been observed, and the area is a hotspot for oil and gas resource exploration. Through extensive field work on outcrops and cores and analyses of geophysical data, it was determined ...

Application of Ecological Theory to Management of Arid Drylands: An Example from China

Rangeland ecosystems shift across dynamic thresholds between differentecological states in response to natural or human-induced factors. These differentecological states are the result of interactions among climate, soils, grazing history, and management practices. The notion of a single ‘‘pristine’’ final state is onlyconceptual in nature, and because of this, dynamic thresholds and the effects...
